Anima's Computer
Well, here's where I'll talk about my rig, complain about it, plea for help from my web-audience, and show pretty pictures.
This is my first computer, which I've modded and upgraded beyond recognition
since first purchasing the once-beige box. With 10' of electroluminescent Glo-wire in green and blue, a UV laser LED, a UV-sensitive blue case fan, a
flashing blue-LED transparent case fan, UV-sensitive clear rounded IDE cables,
and two UltraViolet cold cathodes I've made it a lot more attractive. I modified the
case and its components slowly, stuff like dying the CD-RW and
Equalizer bezels black, sleeving my power supply wires in (supposedly)
UV-reactive blue braided sleeving, and replacing the metal side panel
with a plexi one engraved with the 'Griever' logo from Final Fantasy 8.
I had to replace the power supply with something heftier to keep all my stuff glowing, so I picked up a 500W Aspire pre-modded job, with an acrylic shell, blue-LED lit fans, green UV-reactive molex connectors and a pre-sleeved motherboard power cable.
Here are some pictures...
Here's my baby.
You can't see them from any of the angles in the following pics, but the mobile HD
is on the
bottom there, then the CD-RW, and the Equalizer. Those front-side USB
ports aren't connected. The wire curving around the case is the coax for my TV
tuner card. In the back, you can see the mess of Glowire lying on the
rug. Over on the right, there are a few lego pieces I tried to put in the
case, since they react so nicely under UV light...
Here's a shot of my case in the dark, with
the lights on and the side-panel opened on its hinges.
Here's a shot with the door shut so you can take a look at the engraving.
That represents probably 10 hours of work with a dremel and a veeeeery small
bit.
Gratuitous shot of the guts. Things
look a little different now, since I replaced the processor, but much of it's
the same.

And here's one with the lights on, and a bit more in focus. That's it for now! I really should finish cleaning things up in there... Looks like an electronic hentai monster! Grar!
I also have a DOS machine in my room, which
currently requires drivers for its serial mouse, and 16-bit Soundblaster
soundcard. Then I'll be able to play Cybermage, Alien Logic, and
SpaceQuest again! Whee! :K)
There are two other
gutted computers in the room that shift position every week or so. Maybe
eventually I'll have enough parts to bring those to life too. I have a
spare monitor, ever since I bought a 17" from a friend's friend, for forty
bucks. It's great, after the old 15"
inch!
